Ever
since anyone can remember the Police Officers in the Wickenburg area would
"pass the hat" among themselves to buy children in a needy family
toys, games and gifts during the holiday season. In 1982 a group of these
officers decided that they wanted to do more, so they solicited help from
the community just two weeks before Christmas. In just those two short
weeks, they received enough money to buy Christmas presents for over 250 needy
children.
The following year, these officers from the Wickenburg Police Department, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office formed a public service organization called "Cops Who Care".
Cops
Who Care is involved in supporting our youth by various programs that include
an annual Easter Egg Hunt, Fourth of July programs, funding for drug
education programs such as DARE, school supply funding, sports programs, teen
dances and events, and summer programs.
Cops
Who Care's main event and focus still remains to be their Christmas Toy
Drive for needy children. In 1998 these police officers raised enough
money from supporters like yourself, to buy toys, games and gifts for over
900 children. Santa's list continues to grow you can become a supporter
of these officers by making a tax deductible donation by mailing it to:
